The Four Strings Combined
Study for Locating Notes
This Study is for the purpose of fixing the names and location of the notes thoroughly in the
mind. It is suggested that it be gone through with once without the instrument, merely naming-
each note aloud. It may then be played, still naming the letters aloud, after which it should be
played again, counting very steadily to each note. It is not necessary to play it rapidly.but it
must be practiced so thoroughly that it can be played without any hesitation.
Should it be necessary to look up any of the notes, they can be easily located by the use of
the table, just above. The names of the notes and the fingering have been purposely omitted.
